People generally believe that bad things only happen to other people, but never to them. That’s what Tom used to think until last year.
One night last May, he was in bed when he woke up with a strange feeling that something was wrong. He opened his eyes but everything was normal. He lay in bed feeling confused. Just at the moment, he heard glass shatter and he felt a violent gust of wind pull him from his bed. He was terrified. He tried to grab something that would keep him from flying through the smashed window. He grabbed the wooden frame of the bed and managed to hold on until the wind died down.
A few minutes later everything was quiet again. He was shaking but relieved at the same time. He immediately left the building and ran to his parent’s house for safety.
